Why Splend's Flexi own plan is considered halal car finance

If you want to become an Uber driver, but don’t have a car, there is a large array of finance options out there. However, if you’re a Muslim who wants to give ridesharing a go, it’s not always easy to find Islamic car finance among these options. If you’re looking for halal car finance to kickstart your career as a rideshare driver, our Flexi own plan might be what you’re looking for, as it ensures that you can spread the cost of the car without breaking the Sharia rules. Here’s why our Flexi own plan is considered halal car finance.

Payments are fixed, with no interest involved

You basically pay equal amounts each week, which represent payment in advance for the next week. There are no other costs involved. Apart from the car itself, the fixed weekly subscription fee includes a variety of services, with no other main costs:

  • Service, maintenance, repairs

  • Maintenance pack (including tyres and brakes)

  • CTP insurance, loss-and-damage cover

  • Replacement car after an accident

  • Full paperwork, including registration and roadworthy certificate

  • 24/7 roadside assistance

  • Dedicated customer support

  • Advanced driver training

Clear timeline until you become the owner

The contract you sign when you go on our Flexi own plan contains a clear stipulation about the four-year or five-year finite term by which you have to pay until you become the owner of the car. The total cost of the car you choose is divided into fixed, weekly subscription payments over a span of four or five years, depending on the contract term you choose before signing the agreement, with no interest or other costs.

It’s not a leasing contract

In a leasing plan, you borrow money in order to buy the car and become the owner, which is definitely not halal car finance. In this case, there is no loan. Until all subscription payments have been made by the end of the contract term, Splend remains the owner of the car. In the meantime, you can’t sell or modify the car, because you don’t own it, you’re just paying for the right to use it.
